What can Tau Alpha Chi do for me personally?
Tau Alpha Chi offers a variety of opportunities for the student to develop personal and social skills. It fosters high moral and ethical standards in its members and instills a motivation for self-improvement. It encourages camaraderie among the students by participation in social events. This is particularly important in an urban campus, which offers limited occasion for social activities. The fraternity also offers the opportunity to exchange information regarding courses and professors and to benefit from other students’ experiences.

What can Tau Alpha Chi do for me professionally?
In addition to promoting the collegiate study of professional taxation, Tau Alpha Chi provides the opportunity to associate with professionals in the field of Taxation, including members of corporations and large and small public accounting firms. This interaction can build confidence in business and social skills. The chance to serve as an officer is an excellent opportunity to gain leadership experience and improve communication skills.

Do the accounting firms care if I am an active (voting) member?
Very much so. While not specifically a requirement for a job offer, active membership in Tau Alpha Chi gives recruiters and members of the firms an opportunity to know you. It only makes sense that they would hire those that have formed a favorable impression with them. In addition, only active members are allowed to submit their resumes to the Tau Alpha Chi Resume Book. This book is supplied to all accounting firms and is an excellent way for active members to get their resumes to a large number of firms. Tau Alpha Chi provides an excellent opportunity to develop a relationship before recruiting season and the interviewing process begins. Tau Alpha Chi will also give you public recognition for scholastic achievement, community service, and attendance records, all of which are impressive to the accounting firms. Joining Tau Alpha Chi will boost your career goals and help you get your foot in the door.
